A group of staff from Capital Group gave a day of their time to volunteer at Kites Hill, the nature reserve owned by World Land Trust (WLT) in Gloucestershire.

The away day in July was organised by The Conservation Volunteers (TCV) Gloucestershire Branch, and the group was led by TCV Field Project Officer Kelly Osborne.

During the day the volunteers enjoyed a tour of the site to learn more about the different habitats and conservation management of the reserve before starting work to clear some of the long grasses” around newly planted hedgerows and trees.

“€œIt certainly beat being in the office! It was a fun day out and everyone enjoyed it,”€ said Audrey Welsh who coordinated the event on behalf of Capital Group.

Capital Group is a supporter of WLT”€™s Carbon Balanced project in Vietnam and in July, representatives of WLT took part in a charity day for staff of the Capital Group”€™s London headquarters. During the event, Capital Group staff had an opportunity to learn about WLT”€™s forest conservation project and the work of rangers in the Annamite lowland forests of Khe Nuoc Trong in north central Vietnam.

Covering 40 acres (16 hectares) of beautiful Cotswold countryside, Kites Hill is designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, combining grassland meadow and native woodland.

Although WLT does not require funds for land purchase in the UK, funds are needed for the continued management and improvement of the site for wildlife. If you would like to make a donation to support Kites Hill, please donate to the” Action Fund.
